Captain Richard Hall was the navigating officer of the Harriet ship and whose preserved head was found in a hut at Waimate Pa by soldiers in 1834 during the rescue of Elizabeth Guard and her two young children. John Junior 2.5 yrs and Louisa 6 months old were thrown on the ground and trampled over. It was the Maori way to get rid of the white spirits. This left permanent damage to Louisa and she later died back in Sydney 19th January 1835 aged 14 months. Also know as The Harriet Affair.
